textPlus released for the iPad

textPlus, the free sms messaging app, has now been released for the iPad. Previously textPlus was available for the iPhone, iPod Touch and Android. No telephone number is required to use the app.

textPlus on the iPad

textPlus allows you to send free text messages to any cell phone in the United States and Canada, and free sms to any other textPlus user worldwide. Group text messaging is also supported.

If you are a textPlus user, you can receive sms even if you don’t have a phone. People can send sms to your username from their textPlus app. Non users can send you texts to 60611 which will reach your textPlus account.

The app is free to download and free to use from iTunes:

    I’m not aware that TextPlus are going to support picture messaging, but if you want to send MMS try using Textie:
